Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Congratulations on your new tattoo!

Your tattoo is an open wound and proper aftercare is essential for the best healing and long-term results.

Immediately After Your Appointment

• Your artist has cleaned your tattoo with alcohol and applied Derm Shield (Second

Skin).

• Leave the Derm Shield on for 5 full days unless instructed otherwise.

• During these 5 days, do not remove the bandage or apply ointments underneath it.

While Wearing Derm Shield

• Avoid heavy physical activity, the gym, excessive sweating, and direct sun exposure.

• Derm Shield is water-resistant. You may shower, but avoid standing under the water

for extended periods and do not soak in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or baths.

• Wear loose, clean clothing.

Fluid Under the Bandage is Normal

Around days 2–3 you may notice blood, plasma, and excess ink collecting under the

bandage. This may look like the ink is leaking or fading, but it is a completely normal

part of healing. Leave the bandage in place unless instructed otherwise.

Removing the Derm Shield (Day 5)

1. Let the bandage soften under a warm shower.

2. Slowly peel it off while under running water.

3. Wash the tattoo gently with antibacterial soap.

4. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.

After Removing the Bandage

• Apply a thin layer of Mad Rabbit Gel.

• Continue using it for approximately 1 to 1½ weeks, or until the tattoo appears

healed.

• Do not scratch or pick at peeling skin.

Skin Reactions to Aftercare Products We recommend

Mad Rabbit Gel; however, every person’s skin is different.

Any skincare product—including Mad Rabbit or any other brand—may cause an allergic or skin

reaction. If you experience redness, itching, rash, burning, swelling, or any unusual

irritation after using a product, stop using it immediately and contact ERA Tattoo

Studio or return to the studio for evaluation.

When to Contact ERA Tattoo Studio

Please contact us immediately if you notice:

• Redness spreading around the bandage or tattoo.

• Severe pain that continues to worsen.

• Pus, excessive swelling, foul odor, fever, or red streaks.

• Signs of an allergic reaction to the adhesive or any aftercare product.

Long-Term Tattoo Care

Even after your tattoo is completely healed, continued care is important. Avoid

prolonged sun exposure whenever possible. We strongly recommend applying

sunscreen whenever your tattoo will be exposed to sunlight. UV rays are one of the

biggest causes of tattoo fading, and regular sun protection will help keep your tattoo

looking darker, sharper, and vibrant for many years. Keeping your skin healthy and

moisturized will also help preserve your tattoo’s appearance.
